These are broken down across the 2-year program and are a mixture of internally and externally assessed units. We approach our assessment practices by focusing on student need and have many adaptive assessment protocols to ensure the best possible chance at success. We have a ‘learning through doing’ ethos throughout our organisation and this leads to some fantastic opportunities for our students.

SEND Provision & Pastoral Care –

Here at H.I.P.A we believe that everyone has the ability to succeed irrespective of their individual needs. We are passionate about what our students CAN do and we focus all our attention on that aspect. To help us achieve this we have an onsite, fully qualified, SENCO who ensures that any students with additional needs can access our curriculum. All our teachers are not only specialists in their own areas of expertise but are also trained in SEND provision to ensure our teaching approach is accessible for all.

We also operate a rolling application allowing students to select the year they wish to apply to join. For example, a student in year 9 can apply to join us and this will allow us over 2 years to build a relationship with the student and family as well as work with their school to make their transition to college as seamless as possible.

Our pastoral care is at the heart of everything we do as each student will receive 1-2-1 tutor time as standard as well as, should the need arise, being able to access a wide variety of onsite counselling and holistic therapy provisions in a face-to-face setting. We also run bonding events throughout the 2-year process to ensure everyone can have the best possible experience. We, as staff, are very accessible for any issues or difficulties and pride ourselves on being a caring and compassionate performing arts family.
